CHIEFS DUMP LARRY JOHNSON

Posted by klugster on November 10, 2009

Christmas came early for many Chiefs fan, when it was announced by the club that they had released their once star running back. The release follows a week of fans protesting to the news outlets and all the talk radio, that they were tired of Johnson’s off field troubles.

Johnson became one of the fan favorites when he rushed for over 1700 yards per season for 2 years in a row, earning Pro Bowl status in the process. Johnson helped the Chiefs to be recognized around the league, as a smash the ball up the gut style team.

Johnson was a bruiser type running back that ran over defenses. He would run through holes and sometimes create some of his own by following his blockers down field. After being tackled, Johnson would get up walk back to the huddle, while the defensive players would often get up slower or limping.

After demanding and getting a new long-term contract, things would turn for the worse very quickly. Johnson had some off the field legal issues brought up against him. At the same time his on field production became nearly nonexistent. He also became injured more and quickly fell from the graces of the fans. At the same time Larry acted like he no longer wanted to be in KC.

Not all of the on field problems were his fault. The previous coaching administration dissected the front line so bad in two years with misfits, that last year the club had 2 quarterbacks on the injured reserve. With such a bad front line, there was no way that a running back could have any chance of success. It got to the point that it was so obvious that Larry was not giving his full effort on the field.

I truly believe we have not seen the last of Larry Johnson. Put in the right offense he can once again be the bruiser he once was. But he is not the type of player that can single-handedly do it by himself. He will need a supporting cast to go with him. He will need a front line that lets him get those 2 to 3 steps up field that he needs, without being tackled in the backfield.

As for Chiefs fans they will be glad that Larry is gone but rest assured it will be a long time before we see a running back that is nearly as good as Larry was. It will be a long time before we get excited about the running game. None of the current backs on the roster will ever come close.

CELL PHONE ETIQUETTE

Posted by klugster on October 22, 2009

What did everyone do before the invention of the cell phone? Today all you see is people with their phone’s attached to their ear, just talking about everything. They do it in their cars, at the Dr. Office, the grocery store. They are everywhere like roaches that will not go away.

People seem to lose all common since  when their phone rings, they have to answer it no matter  what and carry a long winded conversation while at the check out. I have seen women so into their conversation that they could not even acknowledge the person that just held a door open for them. Then there is  the person that crossed the road in front of on coming traffic, then had the nerve to look back and shrug their shoulders as if to say, what was their problem?

People need to remember to think of others when talking on their phones. Everyone does not want to hear about Uncle Fester’s operation when riding home or to work on the bus. The clerk at the check out wants you off  your phone, not so they can hold small talk with you. But they want your full attention, so that you do not try to say, they did not give you the correct change back.

So if any of this sounds like you, when you are talking on the phone, take a second too think about others around you and show some etiquette the next time you use your cell.

BRETT FAVRE’S GROUND HOG DAY

Posted by klugster on August 19, 2009

When I heard that Brett Favre had signed with the Vikings, all I could think about was that I thought he had retired. Then I remembered that he had retired before and came back. This is nothing new and we will probably be going through this again next year.

The more I thought about this I realized the only logical explanation for him to retire and then come back again-again and again and again is that he must be stuck in a true life twisted paradox of the movie Ground Hog Day. He says one day that he is retiring and he wakes up weeks later and finds himself in a football uniform.

For us the fans it is getting old to see him keep coming back, but to Brett Favre it is like he never said he was retiring. Instead of the world thinking it is another ordinary day, it is Brett that does not remember what happened the day or year before. What else explains him retiring and coming back every year.

What we need is Bill Murry to help Brett to figure out what he needs to do so the he can one day wake up and remember that he has retired from football.

HEALTH CARE REFORM SOLUTION

Posted by klugster on August 12, 2009

As the president tries to get a new plan in affect that gives everyone the chance to have health insurance,  the people with their own hidden agendas are coming out and creating mass chaos to get the people on their side of the agenda. These so called town hall meetings are becoming nothing  more than a traveling circus.

This country needs a total re- haul of our health care system, everyone agrees to this but with so many lobbyists and politicians trying to get their own agendas and pockets lined, it almost seems that we may never get a system for all the people.

I say we put all the big players in a round  room with no windows together and do not let them out till they come up with a plan that is totally beneficial to the people. No food or water, no devises that they can communicate with the outside world. No bathroom  only a  bucket in the middle of the room for them to use with one ply toilet paper. As they make progress they get a real bathroom break and then food and water as they continual to show progress.

Once a plan is put together that they believe will work for everyone. They put in a stipulation that they have to meet in 1 year in the same room to work out any bugs in the plan that is not working and continue to do this every year, till the plan is actually the best health care system in the world.

MICHAEL JACKSON IS STILL ALIVE

Posted by klugster on July 15, 2009

I was going to Florida for a well deserved vacation just 3 days after Michael Jackson had died, and while boarding on one of my connecting flights, I observed something that seemed out of place. There was a skinny looking man with dark hair with a surgical mask covering his face. Now this is not unusual in today’s standard but something about this guy just caught my attention.

He kept looking around to see who was near him and was just eyeing everyone that went by him. He was definitely trying to hide something or was up to something. As we got seated he was seated just 2 rolls ahead of me to the right, and he still was looking around him like he was looking for someone, but I felt he was looking around to see if anyone was watching him.

Then he noticed me looking at him, and I could see in his eyes and he looked terrified, but why I did not know. He now was only looking back towards me to see if I was still watching him. He was very fidgety in his seat at this point.

After the plane took off, the captain came on and said he was a huge Michael Jackson fan and was dedicating this flight to him by playing some of his music during our flight. As the music started playing over the plane’s sound system, I looked over at the mysterious man that I had been watching. He was now bobbing and wiggling around in his seat. As I watched him it seemed more like he was dancing in his seat,  to the music being played through out the plane.

He suddenly got up and walked past me towards the bathroom’s at the back of the plane. Out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw him moon walking as he disappeared towards the back. I suddenly had to go the restroom myself. As I entered the restroom I could here in the adjourning restroom the distinct low pitched humming of WOO-UO-HOO.

I was now definitely getting an opinion of who this mystery man was. But I needed more concrete proof. I went back to my seat and decided that when we landed I was going to call my friend that works for the TSA. After calling my friend and explaining what I saw and told him what I suspected, he told me he would look into it and get back to me. The next day he called me back to tell me what he had found out and told me a story of his own.

He proceed to tell me that just a week before Michael Jackson died, an associate of his had purchased a one way ticket to the Florida Keys on the very same plane that I was on. My friend also told me that he contacted a friend of his from Homeland Security who told him that the same associate also had a reservation for a private yacht  tour of several destinations in the Caribbean islands.

I was then told that this associate is who checked in on the flight not Michael Jackson, and the operator’s of the yacht tour company also confirmed that it was not Michael Jackson on the tour, however this same associate is now missing.

It turns out that somewhere on the tour in Aruba, the supposed associate got off the yacht to tour the city on foot, and had told the yacht caption not to worry or wait for them if they did not come back. Since the yacht company had already been paid in full they had no concern’s about the customer not returning.

As it turns out, this is not the first time this yachting company has had associates of famous celebrities take private tours to Aruba, then disembark in Aruba and never be seen before. The first time was in 1973 just 2 days before Bruce Lee died and again 1 day after the death of Elvis Presley in 1977.

I was then told that there are several privately owned islands in the Caribbean, and if someone knew the right people and had enough money they could easily disappear for ever. I asked my friend if he thought that is what happened. He told me that he did not want to create any conspiracy theories, that I should draw my own conclusion.

So after thinking about it for a couple of weeks, I have came up with the only conclusion that I can. Knowing what I know and what I saw, there is no doubt in my mind what has happened. Many people will not believe it but there it is pure and simple.

For many years  people have said that Bruce Lee and Elvis Presley were not really dead and now I believe those stories myself. They are very much alive today and now have been joined by Michael Jacksons, somewhere in the Caribbean.

For years Bruce and Elvis have been hiding from the world, I am sure Bruce has taught Elvis how to be a great martial artist and Elvis has taught Bruce to sing or how to dance to All Shook Up and Jailhouse Rock. Now it will not be long before Michael teaches them to moon walk.

CELEBRITIE’S DIE IN THREE’S

Posted by klugster on June 29, 2009

It is always been said that celebrities always die 3 at a time. And I am sure if you look back in time there has been many instances of famous celebrities who have died days apart from each other. But from June 23, 2009 to June 25, 2009, three goliaths of entertainers were lost, 2 just hours from each other.

The first being Ed McMahon on 6/23/09, the long time side kick of Johnny Carson who died according to his publicist attributing his death to the many health problems he had suffered over his final months. He died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA at the age of 86.

McMahon was also the host of the show Star Search, which began in 1983 and helped launch the careers of numerous actors, singers, choreographers, and comedians. He stayed with the show until it ended in 1995, and in 2003, he made a cameo appearance on the revival of the CBS show, hosted by his successor, Arsenio Hall.

McMahon was also the long-running co-host of the annual Labor Day weekend Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. His 41st and last appearance was in 2008, making him second only to Lewis himself in total appearances.

Then on the morning of June, 25, 2009 the world lost model-actress Farrah Fawcett who at the age of 62 lost her long battle to anal cancer. She died in the intensive care unit of Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California, with long time boyfriend Ryan O’Neal  at her side when she died.

Farrah’s early career included TV commercials for consumer products, from Noxzema shaving cream, to Ultra Brite toothpaste, to Wella Balsam shampoo, and in 1975 Mercury Cougar.

Fawcett’s first TV series appearance was a guest spot on I Dream of Jeannie 1968–1969 season , followed by guest appearances in Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law, and the Dating Game and several episodes of Harry O. She would also appear in the show Six Million Dollar Man with Lee Majors, which she was married to from 1973-1982.

Farrah starred in the hit TV show Charlie’s Angel’s and later posed for play boy magazine. At one time the poster of her in a bathing suit was probably on the wall of almost every teenage boy in America.

Farrah left the show Charlie’s Angel’s after one season to pursue a career in movies, but was not to successful. Her best known role was in the movie the burning Bed, which was the first of her 3 Emmy nominations. She also made many appearances in a variety of shows in her career.

Her long battle with cancer and her upbeat attitude to beat it was inspirational to many as they saw how she suffered. Towards the end of her life the two-hour documentary Farrah’s Story which was filmed by Fawcett and friend Alana Stewart, aired on NBC May 15, 2009. The documentary was watched by nearly 9 million people in its premiere airing.

Everyone knew that Farrah was sick and on her death bed, and was expecting the news of her death. When her death was finally announced, no one was surprised and many networks were preparing to air tributes of her life and career.

As sad as her passing was for many, it was even sadder that her death was put on the back page of all the evening news reports due to the unexpected death of music icon, Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson was the 7th child of the Jackson family, the most famous and most successful musical family of all time. He began his career as a member of the Jackson 5 and later as a solo artist, became known as the king of pop.

Michael’s album Thriller was released on November 30, 1982 by Epic Records. After the release of the album’s first single”The girl is mine” some music observers thought Thriller would only be a minor hit record. With the release of the second single “Billie Jean”, the album topped the charts in many countries. At its peak, the album was selling over a million copies a week worldwide. In just over a year, Thriller became—and currently remains—the best-selling album of all time.

Seven of the album’s nine songs were released as singles, and all reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album would go on to win a record-breaking eight Grammy Awards, including awards in three different genres—pop, R&B and rock. The album was one of the first to use music videos. The videos for “Thriller”, “Billie Jean” and “Beat It” all were played often on MTV.

On March 25, 1983, he performed live on the Motown 25: Yesterday Today, Forever television special, both with The Jackson 5 and on his own singing “Billie Jean”. Debuting his signature dance move the moonwalk.

Jackson suffered a serious injury on January 27, 1984, while filming a Pepsi Cola commercial at the Shine Auditorium in Los Angeles; he suffered second degree burns to his scalp after pyrotechnics accidentally set his hair on fire. PepsiCo settled a lawsuit out of court, and Jackson gave his $1.5 million settlement to the Brotman Medical Center in Culver City, California, where he had been treated.

Jackson would go on to co-write the charity single “We Are the World” with Lionel Richie, which was released worldwide to aid the poor in Africa and the US. He was one of 39 music celebrities who performed on the record. The single became one of the best-selling singles of all time, with nearly 20 million copies sold and millions of dollars donated to famine relief

In  the following years Jackson demonstrated what many thought as wield behavior from the king of pop such as in a 1986, a tabloid ran a story claiming that Jackson slept in a  hyperbaric oxygen chamber to slow his aging process; he was pictured lying down in a glass box.

Jackson then bought and befriended a pet chimpanzee called Bubbles, which extended his eccentric persona. In 2003, Jackson claimed that Bubbles shared his toilet and cleaned his bedroom. Later, it was reported that Jackson bought the bones of The Elephant Man. It is these stories that inspired the nickname Wacko Jacko.

Jackson’s skin was a medium-brown color for the entire duration of his youth, but starting in the early 1980s, his skin gradually grew paler. This change gained heavy media coverage, including rumors that Jackson was bleaching his skin. In the mid-1980s, Jackson reported that he was diagnosed with vitiligo and lupus and both illnesses made him sensitive to sunlight.

The press also made note that the structure of his face had changed as well over the years; several surgeons have speculated that Jackson had undergone multiple nasal surgeries, a forehead lift, thinned lips and a cheekbone surgery.

In 1993, Jackson would perform during the halftime show of Super Bowl XXVII. It was the first Super Bowl where the audience figures increased during the half-time show, and was viewed by over 135 million Americans alone; Jackson’s Dangerous album then raised 90 places up the album charts.

Jackson gave a 90-minute interview with Oprah Winfrey in February 1993. He told her of his childhood abuse at the hands of his father. He told her that he believed that he had missed out on much of his childhood years, and admitted that he often cried from loneliness.

Also in 1993 Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse by a 13 year old boy who stayed at the Never land Ranch. On January 1, 1994, Jackson settled the case with an out of court, in a civil lawsuit for $22 million. Jackson was never charged, and the state closed its criminal investigation, citing lack of evidence.

Due to the stress of the sexual accusations Jackson began taking painkillers Valium, Xanax and Ativan, to deal with the stress of the allegations made against him. By the fall of 1993, Jackson was addicted to the drugs. His health deteriorated to the extent that he canceled the remainder of the Dangerous World Tour and went into drug rehabilitation for a few months.

In May 1994, Jackson married singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley. They had first met in 1975. However they divorced less than two years later, remaining friends.

Jackson would later marry again this time he married dermatologist nurse Deborah Jeanne Rowe, who bore him two children using donated sperm: a son, Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr. (also known as “Prince”), and a daughter, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson. The couple divorced in 1999, with Rowe giving full custody rights of the children to Jackson.

Jackson’s third child, Prince Michael Jackson II (also known as Blanket) was born in 2002. The mother’s identity was never released by Jackson, but he said the child was the result of artificial insemination.

Jackson would face more charges of sexual abuse and went to trial to fight the charges. The trial lasted five months, until the end of May 2005, when he was acquitted on all counts. Due the bad press from the trial and rumors of his financial problems, Jackson then relocated to the Persian Gulf island of Bahrain. Continued reports of financial problems for Jackson became more frequent in 2006 after the closure of the main house on his Never land Ranch.

Jackson was scheduled to perform 50 sold out concerts to over one million people, at London’s O2 arena, from July, 13, 2009, to March, 6, 2010. During a publicity press conference, he had made suggestions of possible retirement. Randy Phillips, president and chief executive of AEG Live, had stated that the first 10 dates alone would have earned the singer approximately £50 million. Phillips said that the promotion company had a three-and-a-half year plan to work with Jackson, including a possible world tour, the release of new music and a 3D film based on Jackson’s groundbreaking album, song and music video,Thriller.

KANSAS CITY ROYAL ROLLER COASTER RIDE

Posted by klugster on June 3, 2009

As the Royals continue their current losing streak, I have to admit that I had got caught up in the early winning streak that had them ½ game back in 2nd place after the first month of the season.

I found myself clinging to the radio and TV, every where I went. I had to know, how the games was going. When the evening news comes on I can not wait for the results. I go and get on the internet to find out the results quicker.

It was nice to be leading most of the game and being able to finish the game on top. It was nice to see the bullpen keep a lead, without blowing it away. It was nice to see the starting pitchers go 6 to 7 innings and still get a win.

I did not expect them to win the World Series this season. I had envisioned them at least being an average team that would win at least half of their games. That would have been a huge accomplishment compared to previous seasons.

It is stunning how fast things change in the world of baseball. When April ended the Royals were ½ games out, in May they were at one point 3 games ahead in first place. Know they are near the cellar at 5-1/2 games out. What a roller coaster ride and it is only the beginning of June.

I sure hope this losing streak ends soon and we can go on a streak that put’s us closer to the top. The roller coaster ride from April to May has been a fun ride, but is beginning to feel like a old ride that is fading fast..

SUPERBOWL 2014 BIDDING

Posted by klugster on May 20, 2009

The NFL is taking bids from cities to host the 2014 game.  Potential host cities from Florida and Arizona and other sites with NFL teams will be bidding for the game, as well as the city of London. I have to ask why the city of London?

The NFL has been playing expedition games in other cities trying to expand into  markets other than the U.S.  They even used to have the world league, which also was used to give young  players a venue to show NFL teams that they could play on a professional level.

However NFL football has always been an American sport. The league was created and it was founded in the U.S.  All of the teams that make up the league are from the U.S.

It would only make since that the championship game should always be played on American soil.  In a time when alot of American companies are moving to foreign countries for the cheaper labor, now our beloved sport of football wants to give it’s biggest game away to a foreign city to host.

I want to be the first to tell the NFL, that I object to the idea of London or any foreign city of hosting the Superbowl of American football.

SEND HOCHEVAR PACKING

Posted by klugster on May 13, 2009

There was a smell all through the Royals clubhouse in Oakland that no one could quite figure out where it was coming from. It was fumigated and all was fine for a while but as game time rolled around, the stinch came back even stronger than before.  As the Royals were getting ready for the game everyone was  getting teary eyed from holding their breaths. I heard that some of the Royals players may have fainted. There was some consideration about calling off the game, but as they say in baseball,(THE GAME MUST GO ON).

It did not take long for any of the Royals fans in attendance to smell it as well,  as Luke Hochevar took the mound. After 2 innings and 8 runs scored by Oakland, everyone in Oakland and back in KC knew that it was Hochevar that smelled up the place so bad. When he was finally pulled from the game the smell started to dissipate almost immediately.

This is not the first time that he has stunk up the stadium during his turn in the rotation, he has had a few outings like this before and hopefully it will be his last. Hopefully the Royals will realize that he is not going to make it in the big leagues and send him packing.

Let me be the first to say send him packing, send him packing………

THE OLD ROYALS ARE BACK

Posted by klugster on May 12, 2009

After such a great start, the Royals are currently on a 3 game skid. I hope that they are not heading into a long losing streak. Their closer is on the DL and Hochevar is being called back up. I hope that this is not the beginning of of a free fall to the cellar of the division.
